027 Hollywood Stars

This was a self-promotional poster I designed when I first moved to Los Angeles in 2006. The Hollywood Stars were a minor league baseball team that played its games at Gilmore Field at Fairfax and Beverly Blvd in Hollywood until the Dodgers moved to town in 1958.

025 Larkin Trio

This poster was designed for a restaurant and bar in beautiful Mt. Adams in Cincinnati, Ohio. The drawing of the band was my first successful attempt at caricature and I was pleased that not only did people recognize the musicians from my drawing, but that the band was happy with it as well.

021 Visit Paris

Inspired by the great poster artist of the art-deco period, A.M. Cassandre, this is an homage to the city I always thought I would live in. My life took a different direction and alas, this poster is the closest I have so far come to the City Of Lights... This was originally designed for a Hollywood prop house and like many other posters in this collection may be seen in the background of movies, television shows and commercials.

020 Blue Wisp Jazz Club

Woodcut illustration commissioned for a small jazz club in Cincinnati, Ohio. Finished in 1997, this was always one of my favorite posters becaue of the execution and looseness of the drawing.
Designers, especially one that that has been around as long as I have, tend to overly perfect an illustration and in this I feel like I stopped and left it alone when I should have. A few more minutes and I would have ruined it!

019 Prize Fights

I always loved the old boxing broadside posters you'd see in a gym years ago. The bold and colorful graphics coupled with the names of long-forgotten fighters just make for great "found" art. I pride myself on redesigning posters like this to the specifications found on the originals from the 1940's, 50's and 60's. The typefaces (fonts) used match the kind used at the time and I can customize each one to have any names you would like on it. This was originally designed for a Hollywood prop house and like many other posters in this collection may be seen in the background of movies, television shows and commercials. Colors may be customized for a small additional price.

017 1956 Newport Jazz Festival

being a huge jazz fan, I always loved the 1950's record covers with their neo-abstract ( I just made that up) drawings on them to represent visually the rhythms found on the record. With this in mind as an inspiration, I designed this poster for the fictional 1956 Newport Beach Jazz Festival. This was originally designed for a Hollywood prop house and like many other posters in this collection may be seen in the background of movies, television shows and commercials.
